Spalled Roof Deck - Center Dark Area Indicates Expansive Aggregate

Tax Building Emergency Structural Assessment

When football sized chunks of concrete fell into employee work areas our Mr. Joel Pinnix responded immediately to the late afternoon call.  After a brief assessment, it was determined that an unsafe condition existed.  The building was closed for the following day and Mr. Pinnix assembled a 6-man team to conduct a structural survey of the roof deck.  Within 5 days a detailed assessment was presented to representatives of the Tax Department, General Services and the Governor’s Office.  The building was closed – further detailed surveys included full scale structural load testing, a roofing condition assessment, and the development of repair cost estimates.

This type of success demonstrates our ability to respond to critical situations and present clear information so that our clients may make informed decisions.
